Aim: Gain a certain understanding of Human Rights in an international and a national context; know and to handle the most relevant international laws and prescriptions on Human Rights; being able to analyse and deploy Human Rights case law.
Content: Basic principles on Human Rights and Ethics; Human Rights on an International level; United Nations (History, Organisation, and Universal Declaration of Human Rights etc.); European Union/Council of Europe (History, Distinction, Organisation, European Convention on Human Rights, and the European Court on Human Rights etc.); Human Rights on a National Level.
Competencies: Insights into the state of the art of laws and prescriptions on human rights; insights into human rights in an international and a national context; the ability to find and consult relevant legislation on human rights; the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation on human rights; the ability to analyse and deploy human rights case law; the ability to understand the ways the international community safeguards compliance with International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law.
