Aim: Part A: Students are able to use e-learning tools, to read and discuss academic texts, to analyze empirical studies, and to use textbooks. They are able to prepare essays and feedback-reports; Part B: Students are able to decide, what makes a good leader and what is necessary to be a good manager; Part C: Students are able to prepare essays and the exposé for their master thesis and to draft the thesis.

Content: Part A: Students learn about the elements of academic and scientific reading and writing; Part B: Online lectures, interviews and discussions on basics of communication, dialogue and conflict solution; understanding of international institutions and politics; project management, future/scenario thinking and decision making; characteristics to reflect as a leader (Philosophy in leadership) in an international environment; gender diversity, cultural understanding and intercultural competencies; Part C: Preparation of the Master’s thesis: empirical and theoretical aspects.

Competencies: The ability to connect knowledge, skills and proficiencies from an interdisciplinary perspective; the ability to apply the elements of academic and scientific reading and writing; the ability to communicate about theory, research and practice to professional colleagues, policy makers, researchers and laymen; the ability to work in an environment with a large social diversity (gender, race, nationality) and address conflict resolution in terms of gender diversity and intercultural competencies; the ability to understand international institutions and politics, project management, future/scenario thinking and decision making; the ability to reflect critically, as a leader (philosophy in leadership) in an international environment, about one’s own profession and/or organization; the ability to work goal oriented in fulfilling tasks; the ability to prepare a Master’s thesis in terms of the requirements to undergo empirical research and theoretical undertakings.
